Sugar-free soft drinks: alternatives in Switzerland at a glance

April 15, 2026Shopify API

Anyone looking for a sugar-free soft drink in Switzerland will find light versions with sweeteners, syrups and tea concentrates. A simple alternative: TEABALLS – small pressed pieces of tea and plant extracts that dissolve in water. No added sugar, no tea bag, ready in a few seconds.

Zero soft drinks in everyday life

A look at the drinks aisle in retail shows that the choice of drinks without sugar is wide. The labels of light and zero drinks list sweeteners such as aspartame, acesulfame K or sucralose. Flavourings and other additives come on top. If you would rather prepare your drink yourself, you can do so with TEABALLS – the ingredients list for each variety is on its product page.

What are TEABALLS?

TEABALLS are small pressed pieces of tea and plant extracts. You put 3 to 5 pressed pieces into a glass (3 dl), add water, stir briefly – and the drink is ready. No brewing, no tea bag, no waiting.

  • No added sugar – the taste comes from tea, plant extracts and flavourings.
  • Cold or hot – the 16 TEABALLS varieties as iced tea, flavoured water or hot tea; the 8 organic varieties hot only.
  • Handy on the go – the pressed pieces fit in any pocket.
  • 24 varieties, 8 of them organic – from fruity and fresh to spicy (16 TEABALLS varieties and 8 organic varieties).

Good to know: the sweetener sucralose is found in only 4 of the 16 TEABALLS varieties (Energy, Mango, Blueberry & Coconut, Watermelon). The other 12 TEABALLS varieties and all 8 organic varieties contain no sweetener – so 20 of 24 varieties do without sweetener. What exactly a variety contains is shown in the ingredients list of each product.

Making a sugar-free soft drink yourself – three ideas

  • Iced tea alternative: put 3 to 5 TEABALLS into 300 ml of cold water, stir briefly, add ice cubes. You can find more recipes under Making sugar-free iced tea yourself.
  • Fruit infusion: add a few mint leaves or lemon slices – a refreshing summer drink. More ideas: Sugar-free flavoured water.
  • On the go: put the pressed pieces into a drinks bottle filled with water and let them dissolve (3 to 5 pressed pieces per 3 dl). You can find suitable bottles under Drinks bottles and more.

What does it cost in everyday use?

A bottle of 150 TEABALLS is enough for 30 to 50 drinks (3 to 5 pressed pieces per 3 dl glass). At a bottle price of CHF 8.90, that is roughly CHF 0.18 to 0.30 per glass; at CHF 9.90 (Energy, Blueberry & Coconut and the organic varieties) roughly CHF 0.20 to 0.33 (as of 1 October 2026). The water comes from the tap: no carrying, no PET bottles. Our comparisons show how TEABALLS compares with other solutions: air up, Waterdrop and Dropz and sugar-free syrups.
