Hemp tea: what it actually is – and what TEABALLS offers instead
Hemp tea is a common search in Switzerland. So that you know where you stand: TEABALLS does not sell hemp tea. Our range consists of pressed tea and herbal pellets – fruit, herbs, black and green tea, plus a certified organic line. This article explains what hemp tea is, and which TEABALLS varieties are worth a look if you are after a mild evening tea.
What hemp tea is
Hemp tea is made from the leaves and flowers of industrial hemp. It tastes mild and slightly nutty and herbal. It has nothing to do with cannabis as an intoxicant: industrial hemp is bred specifically for a very low THC content.
Many claims circulate about health effects of hemp tea. There is no solid, generally accepted evidence for them – which is why we deliberately make no such promises here. If you have questions about your own health, the best place to take them is your doctor or pharmacist.
Preparing hemp tea
Dried hemp leaves are brewed like a herbal tea: roughly 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup, water at about 70 to 80 °C, left to steep for 5 to 10 minutes. A herbal residue stays behind in the strainer – unlike with TEABALLS.
The difference to TEABALLS
TEABALLS are pressed pellets that dissolve in water without any residue. No bag, no filter, no steeping time, no strainer to empty.
- 3 to 5 pellets per glass, hot or cold – ready in seconds
- No added sugar
- No packaging waste per cup
- Compact for the office and on the go
Mild TEABALLS varieties for the evening
If the mild, herbal character is what brought you to hemp tea, the organic herbal varieties in our range are the ones to look at – for example Organic Good Evening or Organic Jasmine Green Tea. Exactly what a variety contains is listed with every product.
