Peppermint tea is a popular herbal tea with a fresh menthol flavour. Here you will learn how to brew peppermint tea the classic way, how to make it as iced tea and how to enjoy it in seconds with TEABALLS Mint, without added sugar.
Peppermint tea: flavour and caffeine
Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) tastes fresh, cooling and slightly sharp. Peppermint tea is a herbal tea and naturally contains no caffeine. For comparison: according to the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), 200 ml of filter coffee contains around 90 mg, black tea around 45 mg and green tea around 30 mg of caffeine (figures retrieved on 1 October 2026).
TEABALLS Mint consist of peppermint extract and acidity regulators (citric acid, sodium hydrogen carbonate). They contain no added sugar and no sweetener.
Peppermint tea hot vs. cold – what suits when?
Peppermint tea tastes good hot or cold. The classic way is to make it with fresh or dried peppermint leaves: pour hot water over them and leave to steep for at least 5 minutes. Hot, it is a classic for cool days; as a cold iced tea it is particularly fresh, for example in summer or after exercise.
With TEABALLS Mint, both work in seconds: simply put them in a glass, add water, and you're done. For hot drinks we recommend 60–80 °C; for cold drinks you can stir the pressed pieces into cold or iced water.
Peppermint tea without sugar – how it works
Many people reach for sugar or honey with herbal tea. With TEABALLS Mint that is not necessary: they contain no added sugar and are almost calorie-free (around 3 kcal per glass according to the nutritional information on the product pages, for example for Lemon and Energy). The flavour is fresh and minty.
- Put three to five TEABALLS Mint (pressed pieces) into a glass with 3 dl of water
- Use hot (60–80 °C) or cold water
- Stir briefly until the pressed pieces have dissolved, and enjoy
A bottle of 150 pressed pieces is enough for around 30–50 drinks.
